After watching how mesmerized she was while filling in the images with her newly sharpened pencils, I decided I wanted to color as well. Although the images I colored werent exactly inspirational to me, I enjoyed the experience overall. The next day, I decided I wanted to get my own coloring book with a new set of colored pens. I bought a book full of pictures of mandalas (a circle with complex designs in it). The designs were beautiful and I could imagine them once I filled them with color.

The vast majority of families take at least one vacation a year which usually involves traveling to a foreign city and seeing the sights of the downtown area. Yet there are challenges in traveling with young children which can result in added stress for the parents. A stay in a Toronto hotel alone while on business is a completely different experience from that of staying at a downtown hotel with two young children. Often by simply doing some research ahead of time, these stresses can be eliminated altogether.

If you are like most adults you might simply shrug it off and not really pay that much attention to this; yet there quite a few adults that really embrace that creative side and decide to express it by drawing or painting as either a hobby or a profession. If you are one of the really creative people you are likely to take that next step and simply make your creative passions work for you. This is something that many people really never give that much thought to as kids; or maybe those kids that became well known artists always knew that they wanted to share their creativity with the world. It is kind of amazing when you really think about the fact that just sitting there coloring either by yourself or with your kids really can make a big difference in your life.

Determine your childs level when it comes to coloring. Some color books provide large coloring spaces making it easier for children to color the page, stay in the lines, etc. As the child gets older, their skill level for coloring increases as well, and the difficulty of the book may as well. Some coloring books come with written instructions, and other games, such as a dot to dot, or a maze. If you want to keep your child happy, and still challenge them, choose coloring or activity books in their range or level, and do not frustrate them with books that have too small of pictures, or too many spaces to color, or written instructions.

Coloring books are a thing of the past. Kids today arent as thrilled by a basic coloring book as children a generation ago. That is because these children have been spoiled by all the fantastic new methods of coloring using the computer or with fancy markers and pens. While you might get away with a coloring book and crayons for a long car trip, dont expect your school age children to sit quietly at the table coloring pictures the old fashioned way - there is a something better around, and they know it.

Coloring in a Doodle Book. You can do this very effectively by getting an artists sketch pad. This is a pad of blank sheets of paper used by artists to plan their paintings or creative work on, much like a writers rough draft. Once you have your pad, take a pencil and start to doodle. Make lines, circles, shapes, what ever at the time makes you feel good. Then color in the spaces within the doodles. Even if you think you are not a very creative person you will feel productive and relaxed after a few doodle your noodle calming sessions.
